David Brink Retires; Ken Ritterspach Carries on Stylmark Vision

Brink legacy continues with new leadership

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – June 1,  2006 – David Brink, President and CEO of Stylmark Inc. since 1975, has announced his retirement from those positions effective June 1, 2006. He will continue as trustee of Stylmark’s Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) and member of its board of directors.   Brink, who has been an integral part of the company for over 40 years, began his career with Stylmark as a regional sales manager.

“It’s been an extraordinary experience,” said David Brink.  “I watched my father, Ray Brink, start this company in our garage.  He built it into a very successful company where innovation was at the forefront and where people enjoy coming to work.  It was wonderful to be a part of his dream and have the opportunity to make my career in one business and watch it come full circle.”

David Brink led Stylmark through many changes and to much success throughout his tenure.  After five years as a regional sales manager, Brink became general manager and expanded the company’s focus from aluminum extrusions to a broader range of store fixture components.  Then, Brink became president in 1975 when he purchased the company from his father.  Under his leadership, Stylmark’s manufacturing space more than doubled, its employee base grew from 45 to 150 employees, its product mix expanded, and new retail markets were entered.  The most significant change under Brink’s leadership was the transfer of ownership of the company to its employees in 1998.

In preparation for Brink’s retirement, Stylmark searched for a senior executive who would continue the Brink legacy of innovation, integrity and excellence in customer service.  Ken Ritterspach, a Twin Cities businessman, was recruited as Stylmark’s president in 2005.

“A major part of the Brinks’ vision was to create a company where customers were well served and where people wanted to work,” said Ritterspach.  “That is a compelling heritage.  That tradition, coupled with Stylmark’s well-defined market niche and strong brand, position the company for significant growth.  I am excited and honored to be chosen to continue the strong Stylmark legacy.”

Ritterspach has over 30 years of senior management experience in leading manufacturing and professional services organizations.  He was president of King Concept Corporation and US Communications and held senior positions in both manufacturing and services companies.  Ritterspach has also consulted with middle market and Fortune 500 companies on strategic planning, organizational development and crisis management.
